In response to reports of other municipalities relocating unhoused individuals to St. Joseph without consent, an ordinance is being considered to criminalize unauthorized relocation of transient and unhoused individuals to the city. The proposed amendment to the City’s criminal code aims to prevent individuals without ties to St. Joseph from being relocated to the city without a lawful reason, such as medical treatment or court hearings.
