St. Joseph will celebrate Irish heritage this weekend with the 40th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The event, organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, begins at noon Saturday. The parade will start at Frederick Avenue and Noyes Boulevard and travel through downtown before ending at Eighth and Felix streets.

Floats, Irish music and community groups will take part in the celebration. This year’s grand marshals are the Dolan Clan.

Organizers say the parade traces its roots back to 1867 and was revived in 1986. The Hibernians have coordinated the event since 1997.

Spectators are also encouraged to support the Second Harvest Community Food Bank by donating at collection buckets along the parade route.
