One man is recovering after a shooting early Thursday morning in St. Joseph.

Police say officers responded to reports of gunfire near Messanie and 17th Street, where they found a man with a gunshot wound. Officers performed lifesaving measures at the scene before the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the suspect fled and has not been identified.
