A $342 million deal announced Wednesday is set to reshape the future of one of Kansas City’s most recognizable summer attractions.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced it will sell Worlds of Fun, along with six other regional parks, to EPR Properties.

The Kansas City-based real estate investment trust will take ownership of the park, putting a local company in control of the longtime attraction.

Worlds of Fun has been a staple in Kansas City since opening in 1973 and remains one of the region’s most popular summer destinations.
