The Missouri Invasive Plant Council is partnering with several conservation groups to host its annual Callery, or Bradford pear, tree buyback program across the state.
Homeowners can cut down invasive pear trees and receive a free native replacement by registering and submitting a photo of the removed tree.
Locally, the event will be held April 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Remington Nature Center, where 25 native trees will be distributed.
Registration is required and closes April 16.
