The City of Weston is stopping plans to install Flock brand cameras, and removing the existing system due to resistance from residents.

In a city council meeting, residents were concerned about privacy issues related to the cameras, two of which had been approved for purchase in Weston. Mayor Kim Kirby has previously said the cameras would be a second set of eyes for the city’s police.

Flock systems are AI-powered, and retain license plate numbers and other information about vehicles they see, per the company’s website.
