Doniphan County Kansas has been designated as a Purple Heart County, honoring combat-wounded veterans and recognizing the county’s commitment to their sacrifice. August 7th will now be observed annually as Purple Heart Day in the county. Residents are encouraged to participate in ceremonies and tributes to honor service members wounded or killed in action. This designation aligns with Kansas being named a Purple Heart State, emphasizing recognition of military personnel injured in combat.
